THE 4th EDITION OF THE ‘’AAPI HUMANITARIAN AND PEACEMAKER’’ Award

African Artists Peace Initiative (AAPI) and Aman event organizer hosted the 4th Edition of the ‘’AAPI Humanitarian and Peacemakers Award’’ on the 2nds of March 2019 at intercontinental hotel Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in collaboration with the Youth4Peace Programme of the Peace and Security Department AUC, Citizens and Diaspora Organizations (CIDO) Directorate of AUC and UNESCO Regional Liaison Office to African Union and ECA. The overarching aim of the event was to promote and revive the ‘’African Cultural Renaissance’’ agenda and also fundraise for AAPI’s activities 2019-2020 which includes but not limited to

1. Setting up of the AAPI Ethiopia Country and Liaison Office to the African Union and UNECA

2. Pilot initiative on the Culture, Arts, and Sports (CAS) Campaign between Ethiopian and Eritrean Youth.

3. Pan-African Campaign on Silencing All Guns by 2020

The event featured (6) Pan-African Artists (Ms. Tsednia Gabremarkos, Ms. Hanna Girma, Henock and Mahari Brothers, Silver P, King Kora, and Mr. Sydney Salmon and the Imperial Majesty Band in concert; and African dishes from Nigeria, Cameroon, Sudan, South Africa, Ethiopia, and Kenya.

The recipients for the 2019 edition of the award were his Excellencies; Dr. Abiy Ahmed – Prime Minister of The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and President Isaias Afwerki of The Republic of Eritrea; as winners of the award in 2019. The award recognized individuals and organizations that champion the culture of peace, tolerance, and understanding across Africa and the Diaspora.
